A fun family cycling event for eBikes and Mountain Bikes, organised by the Rotary Club of Auckland East.
The route is based on the Hauraki Rail Trail.
Proceeds from the event will go to our nominated charity, Life Education Trust.
All levels of fitness will be welcome.
Spot prizes from our sponsors will be awarded at the end of each day's ride.
The ride will be run over two days, Saturday and Sunday 3/4 November 2018, starting at 10 a.m. on Saturday and 9 a.m. on Sunday.
There will be a staggered start, with riders leaving the start point at 1-minute intervals.
Entrants may choose to ride on only one of the days if they so wish. The entry cost is the same for one or two-day riders.
The event starts at the Wharf in Thames. The first day's ride of 48 km skirts the Firth of Thames and goes through the villages of Kopu, Pipiroa, and Waitakaruru, ending at Miranda. There are bird watching and coffee stop opportunities along the way.
The second day's ride of 56 km is the most scenic, leaving from Thames Wharf, passing through Paeroa, world famous in New Zealand for its Lemon and Paeroa soft drink, Karangahake Gorge, Bullswool Farm Park, and Waikino Station Cafe, and on to Waihi.
At Waihi you can visit the Victoria Battery, Waihi Gold Discovery Centre, boutique shops, and cafes.
As this is a charity event, there will be an entry charge of $30 per entrant. The fee includes entry for the end of day spot prizes.
Riders must enter from this site. Entries close on 31 October
